What Does the Invisalign® Treatment Process Involve?
During your initial consultation, your teeth and bite will be examined to determine if you are an ideal Invisalign® candidate. If you decide to move forward with the treatment, here is a general overview of the process:
- An impression of your teeth will be created to design your first set of custom aligners, along with a series of additional aligners (usually 18 – 30 sets) each modified to gradually move the teeth into an improved alignment.
- Each set of aligners will be worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next set.
- It is recommended to wear your aligners for 20 – 22 hours per day, other than when you are eating, drinking, or cleaning your teeth.
- Once your treatment is complete, you may receive a retainer to wear to help maintain the new and improved position of your teeth. After a certain amount of time, many patients only need to wear the retainer while sleeping.
